salt playdough sculpture

~I thrifted this fun book, Mud Works a few weeks ago and we decided to try out one of the recipes when we were all couped up here with the sickies last week.We made some cookie cut out painted dough sculptures for mother's day last week. It was a very fun and easy project for burger. We changed it up a bit by drying them in the oven(step 8). We were in a hurry because one was a gift for Paps's birthday.

salt play dough
materials
1 cup water
1/2 cup flour
1 cup salt

process
1. mix all ingredients in saucepan
2. add food coloring if desired
3. stir over low heat
4. when thick and rubbery, remove from heat
5. spoon clay onto a floured sheet of wax paper
6. roll out
7.cut out or model
8. cook in 200 degree oven for at least an hour until very hard or air dry over a few days
9. let cool and paint with any acrylic paint


~We poked holes in ours with straws to make hanging sculptures.
I glued one of Burger's to a framed picture of him.
~It was a fun project that we got to return to several times and create layers and teach burger about process and maybe even a little patience...

No farmers market this weekend!

I won't be at the farmers market this weekend. I am having a wonderful visit with my mama and sister.
We went to Hill's cafe to see Doug Moreland Last night(part of the KVET free texas music series), and tied one on.hahahahah

Easter Sunday

HAPPY EASTER!! HAPPY SPRING!!!
my little bunny runs so fast


I made my first easter basket. I hid raisins,
goldfish and rocks(burger likes his rocks) in the eggs.
I also made bunnyvampires(the red bunny)
inspired by Cinda's bloody mouth bunnies(see pic below)




We had a fun day at Grammy and Pappy's
Cinda made delectable edibles and the most wonderous peach pie, yumyumyum.

Cinda's Bunnies were out in full force and Burger just loved them,
particularly the little bloody mouthed ones
(seen here in the bottom left corner).


Afterwards we had a relaxing evening at home... early to bed sweet bunny.

The spring garden

We started prepping the garden for spring planting a few weeks ago.


You can see how little it was last year


Daddy tilled the plot twice as big this year.


We ordered tomato seeds from Heirloom Seeds.
They were so sweet they sent us some extra surprise seeds with our order(very nice)
Anyway the little tomato plants we started indoors and they look beautiful and happy.



I also started a two different basils and some marigolds and a few different peppers.
So hopefully one more lite freeze and the little darlin's can be moved outside.
