A few things I loved and set free

*************( No way not the burger)

I always feel so behind in my week working up to the market. I try to be organized and start working early but inevitably I am up till 2 am on Friday night working away... Then when I lay down to try to sleep get excited about setting up the market in the morning and getting to put all my new creations up for people to see and hopefully talk about and perhaps even purchase. I use to call this feeling anxiety now I have calmed my nerves a bit. There have been quite a few goodies that have left me unremembered(no picture); I have a terrible memory so no picture = no recollection. Lately I have been toting my camera with me to try and catch a few recollections.
Several of these things sold and I even traded a few to fellow vendors(LOVE that)

This apron sold pretty early. It is the first featuring a rooster from a sweet old table cloth , The skirt was a panel from an IKEA curtain, I really felt sort of hokey putting this together but I just loved the end result(Hey I am sort of hokey and I am OK with it).

I also sold this onesie pretty early too. It has a little Giraffe calf (a sleeping giraffe calf!) on it! I don't usually throw up my appliqued things on here but I just really love that calf...I bought the fabric for burger because it has all these elephants bathing and tooting around I didn't even notice the little calf till I started cutting out elephants.
I also got back into some undies this week , I finished up a couple that I had hanging around half done
These ones ( the green and blue ones)I traded for vegetables! Panties for produce ...only at Sunset valley Farmers Market



I made this little nightie set...jeez you know I don't think I would have ever thought I would think dinosaurs could be kinda sexy but... what do you think? Hot mama's pajamas

I also traded this little vintage fabric Owl skirt for some new bling. Owls remind me of fall for some reason and if we can't have real fall weather we can have pretend fall with color and animals. I am very thrilled with this trade I made with m2 (she has no link but has a booth at the market and sells at Parts an Labor.
I will post some photos of my booty from the trade when I take pictures.

Apron Month! or july custom orders

July was a month of record custom orders for me! I am very lucky to be developing such good trusting relationships with so many fun people. I also had my Apron give-away this month ; which was my most responded to give-away so far . Thanks to all who left such sweet comments.
I had several custom apron orders that were each in need of special attention for different design needs. It was a creative boost to work out the specific needs and let function help dictate form.



I first made a custom apron for a pizza waitress in Portland Maine(a very dear friend)
I worked pizza joints for more years than I am going to disclose so I was quite intimate with the needs of this apron.
1. Looks good with jeans
2. looks kinda like a pizza
3. very durable washable material
4. User friendly pockets:
a. I have a larger long(deep) one for the check book
b. a smaller more shallow cash "drawer"
c. a few pen slots







This apron also has a fold down waist band to get a different look ..or if you are too busy to have a sassy tie in the front


I really loved this project... The client wanted a very durable apron that would wear well from the kitchen to the hostess table without showing to much stain that was the function part.
The content was constructed from a free flowing idea email she sent me about her house her style and her family. This was what I came up with and we were both thrilled with the outcome. Thanks girlfriend it was a fun collaboration of ideas!







I made several custom skirts this month but I seem to have mis-filed the photos on the machine . Two were "tractor girl" skirts here is a pocket from one! hopefully my gal pal form sunset valley will be sending me a photo of her modeling hers soon!



This was the pocket on a half apron that I made for Cali transplant's 29Th birthday , It is supposed to turn her into a domestic diva( the airplane is from this vintage curtain that a co-vendor gave me ! It is so Richard Scaryesk...look for more in this series; very fun,inspiring fabric))


Custom wrap skirt, This is the greatest green fabric almost seersucker texture ...very flowy perfect for a wrap ( thanks Cinda)
"Apronstrings"had a very similar apron on Monday I was tickled over( i told you the fabric was sew similar D)






This custom apron was for a gift for Houston's Sissy -in -law( almost, mipper), I am really in love with it . She gave me no specs cause Houston trusts my creative genius completely (hahahaha- she is completely under my spell)I made the sister to this apron and sold it on Saturday at the market without taking a single photo!!!! I hope to see the buyer again maybe she will send me a photo

So luckily for me I had lots of great response to my aprons and skirts at the Market and beyond. Thanks everyone for your growing support!~ I did not get the greatest pictures ( I missed a couple all together). But They were all very fun and special so I wanted to share them! Thanks for bearing with me thru this rambling post I am sleep deprived this week (already)

Fun yellow cards

I might be seriously considering moving on to yellow ...I think it is seeping out of my subconscious; I changed my serger thread to "maze"
I am really enjoying the change.
and so was someone else......hmmmmmm


I dyed the paper for these cards a month or so a go and I had a jolt of inspiration and whipped these little babies up this past week.




I sold all three on Saturday at the Farmers Market. Luckily daddy scanned them into the machine for me Friday night."What a man, What a man, What a man, What a mighty good man!"( don't you wish there was a music symbol key up there; they could just replace "^ " I never use "^" )

Desperate times desperate measures

desperate people in my drive way stealing things ! I don't usually write to much on here about our troubles because I like to write about my inspired moments but I cant get this off my mind and I think it is stifling my pocket making this morning.
Yesterday around 2:00 (past nap time) Burger and I were trying to wind down for a nap in front of Donald duck You tube. Big dog was barking(from the bedroom this dog knows ) and through my Disney haze I wondered is Dada home already? I looked through the shade to see a silver sedan parked in the drive "who is here?" I wondered annoyed as I stepped out the front door( with burger on my hip) to see a 200lb 40 year old man with his arms full of valuables (Dada's work stuff) jumping into the back of this car. I WAS NOT THINKING STRAIGHT.....
I grabbed the other side back door and proceeded to try and stop them. pulling out some of the goods and bruising my leg. (I KNOW THIS WAS STUPID)
Luckily the driver was a women also about 40 that was very concerned that I was holding a baby...she did not run us over
Anyway I have to assume they were desperate ...I am not excusing them I feel completely violated
The Daddy's girl from the Georgia woods said"oh HELL no you ain't taking my sh*t "
You see we feel pretty desperate right now too "Do we buy groceries this week or pay the utility bill that just sent notice" so I can empathize
I have nothing remarkable to say or insightful or an idea of how to make it better... I just see the storms coming the cost of living is increased so much in the last 6 months we can't keep up!
The cops came I got the plate # ... But even if they stop them what about the rest of us .

honky tonk angels

We took my Cali transplant out for a honkytonk celebration of her recent completion of masters!

Always a dancing good time we hit the Sunday night showing of Heybale at our local Continental Club.
I do believe we all agreed it was quite a hoot and each of the ladies were led around the dance floor several times!
I have to mention that I have always found the gentlemen of the Sunday night Heybale shows to be very sweet and gentle leads even if their dance partner is a little skiddish or out of practice.
(OK he is not one of them)

Cali even snapped a few -20 photos of our little adventure ! You can see her here with the one she referred to lovingly as the "pedophile".I have to say my favorite dance of the night was "Just walk on by...wait on the corner"
