some valentine sketches...and memories

~some little ideas for a silk screen maybe?

...And while I was searching for our marriage licence(don't ask) I came across some wedding photos I had forgotten about . I uploaded a gazillion photos to facebook last night(because I have nothing better to do?!?) so I decided to share these.

... Is it obvious I have started making valentines this week?

My friend the Jedi mama

My sweet gal pal, Blue Mama, made Burger the coolest 'get better' gift. His very own Light saber. It is so cool and he is quite handy with it. ~I am lovin' the soft knit construction, much easier on the skull or knee than the vintage plastic one in our back yard( that is in a million shards)

...She was inspired by this pattern , but created her own which I think is quite fantastic. I will bet if you happen to have a young Jedi(and lack Jedi knitting skills) you might could talk her into custom knitting you one of these bad boys.

Mortified

I awoke this morning horrified not because the cold in my head had made its way to my chest (although that sux too) but because John Smoltz and Atlanta Icon, one of the tiny remnants left of the braves legacy has been shamelessly allowed to leave by the new evil emperor

"I’ve defended Frank Wren several times this off-season, but there’s no excuse for the way the John Smoltz situation was handled." By Chop Chick | Thursday, January 8, 2009, 06:03 PMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution

SMOLTZ WALKS
Icon of Braves’ best years goes to Boston,By Carroll Rogers

Over the past 21 years, John Smoltz became an Atlanta icon, building a lasting connection to this community.

On the field, he gave us the indelible image from the moment the Braves’ run of success began, holding catcher Greg Olson in his arms in celebration when the team clinched the division in 1991. And he was the only player still left from the first of those record 14 straight division titles.

Smoltz’s presence transcended the Braves uniform. And now that uniform, which so many people connect with the bearded one wearing No. 29, will be gone.

Smoltz told the Braves and his teammates Thursday that he would sign a one-year contract to pitch for the Boston Red Sox.

Throughout his career, he endeared himself to metro Atlantans outside the ballpark.

He served Thanksgiving meals to the needy for “Hosea Feed the Hungry.” He founded Kings Ridge, a Christian school in north Fulton County. His best buddy is local comedian Jeff Foxworthy.

And he’s one of the few people in the world who can get Tiger Woods on the telephone.

For his teammates, his fans and the city, emotionally detaching themselves is extremely hard —- and it’s only just begun.

“Never, even in a million years did I think this day would come for John Smoltz,” Braves veteran third baseman Chipper Jones said. “I honestly thought that everybody would go somewhere else before John would.”

Last year was very difficult for me as an Atlanta fan because of the loss of Andruw Jones, He became the incredible player he is today right before my eyes in a Braves uniform. However I understood that the 10s of millions of dollars was just not there to keep him. When I learned that it was less than 2 million dollars that caused us to loose Smoltz I my heart sank . Obviously this Mr. Wren does not respect the fans or the legacy.

may the force be with us.....

We hope to be fully recovered and returned to the Farmers Market on January 17th.

Happy New Year, and happy birthday Belle and Burger

Today is the one year point for this little blog. I have had fun exploring and participating in CyberLand , I am sure this year will be even more fun and inspiring! Here is a special PG-13 photo I wanted to commemorate this day with...(thanks for the memories daddy you sure know how to capture them)~Between burgers terrible sickies and my overdue migraine(thanks for the foresight Cali-trans), I was thinking of skipping this years New Years grub . My mother's voice however began mingling with my headache saying something about how much 'she hates greens but she always eats one bite(Hold nose here)',and I thought our bank account could use some added greens. Plus I Lalalalove collards and mustards(I always mix'em)!!
Also Dada had made a special grocery trip for greens and peas;... my sweet man also brought these pretty flowers home So at 2 pm (very late by my usual standards) I filled my sink to wash-up some greens and started boiling 2 hamhocks as hard as I could.
~I wish you all a happy new year with luck and prosperity(if you are so inclined).

Star Wars therapy

Burger has not spent much of his first 2 years sick so I was surprised to wake up to my feverish pup yesterday and today included all the terrible things that follow fevers. He is probably sick because he was supposed to stay well before his surgery. So anyway we spent the better part of the last 2 days watching all the 3 star wars movies( there are only 3 around this house), not just rewinding the rancor eating the "wort hog"(burger term), which was what we did last week

~As well as watching Wall~E 10-20 times.

We have been on a rancor rampage 'round these parts for
the better part of the holiday season. "rancor hungry, rancor eat some "

Today my little rancor drank some of his 'wort hog ' tea and said to mama rancor,"tea make rancor better", which made my heart pitter patter.
