A better view; Another Five minute Angry Chicken Skirt

Here are a few more photos of my second Five minute Angry chicken Skirt. These are a little better than the ones I posted last night.



I used 2 1/4" lace elastic for the waist instead of FOE(fold over elastic) I was going for a sort of lingere look

searching for my red ; and a great date

It has been a while since red has drifted back into my focus....It is however my lifelong favorite. I remember when I was in maybe 7th grade my dad asking me why I had so much red in my paintings"are you angry? "he asked. I totally did not get this (I have never thought of myself as angry),I don't remember how I responded . ...anyway a red for fall






Dada and I spent date night at this wonderful new to me Colombian restaurant; Casa Colombia.(love the red in their sign)

It was super fantastico, great food very nice atmosphere all for a reasonable price. Dada discovered it while we were in Bama.
He says it was opened by the chef who first opened Dona Emilia's . Which was a very tasty eastside treat that we used to go to when I was an eastsider back in the day. I have not been to the downtown location but from the looks of their website, Casa Columbia is more like the eastside Dona Emilia's that I remember.

Low key and laid back with fantastic food at reasonable price. I had perfectly pan cooked tilapia with avocado sliced on top and a spicy mayo on the side . Fried yucca, sweet plantains(YUMYUM), and beans came with it.
We also had this awesome appetizer of fried plantains stuffed with cheese. I totally forgot the food pix, sorry.


On this date-nite I sported another 5 minute angry chicken skirt I made. I used this beautiful vintage silk fabric that my sweet brother e -law gave me( thanks c). You can kinda see it here; think 1987 librarian..very sexy
I really love this pattern ...not these photos though .YOU MUST MAKE THIS SKIRT! IT IS FOOL PROOF!
The hem looks kinda janky in this photo ( I was having silk /serger issues), but I still loved it! Especially with my sexy datenite only shoes!( thanks nanny) I must take a real photo of these shoes they are really cute (not comfortable).

I made some time to make me a shirt finally! I have been trying to make a pattern for a plain T shirt that I could reuse . This is obviously not going to be it But I think it is cute anyway. I used an old navy shirt as a general out line for the pattern and changed the long sleeves into cap sleeves but I screwed up the boat neck so this was my solution. Did I mention I love my serger!!!

I also made burger a pair of shorts out of this tiny bit of fabric I bought like 3 years ago.

Also Baseball season started yesterday YAY!!!!!!! GO BRAVES

I dressed you up like a girl when you were little.

I will be able to say that to burger now and here are the photos to prove it. I made little Aleena a jumper dress and Burger had to model it before it was sent. I figured papa would growl but he just said, "you should have put tights on him". It was too late for tights however, the birthday dress was on its way to Cali. I used butternick B4841 and an olive green fat cord with contrasting jelly bean flannel. The buttons were my first real buttons with machined holes.So needless to say the button holes took me almost as long as the jumper( including time worrying about messing up the jumper with wack job button holes). I wish I had added pockets now(all toddlers need pockets ,right?) I also made her this green hat to match.

this is my third skirt from the pattern for her A line skirt I added the pockets and lined them with the lining peeping over the front and shortened it a bit.
