I wonder if I'm Growing

~ We have working on some things around here keeping ourselves busy. I have a few tutorials I am creating and doing quite a few custom skirts all to be shared later along with a much needed shop update. One very important family transition we are in the midst of is giving burger his own room and bed. Burger and I have shared a room for toys and sewing (and guest bedding) for almost 3 years. Very slowly over the last month or two we have been moving my sewing studio into our living/toy/TV room and moving Burger's toys and such into his room. We always called it the sewing room, Now he says "My room". We were slow about the sleeping. Starting with naps then moving into nights. But now that is where he wants to sleep. I still have to go in once or twice when he wakes but I think even that will dwindle out. I think I am probably the saddest out of all of us about the change. The first 2 weeks were very difficult for me sleeping wise; but I am getting used to it. I guess my little man is growing up.

~Other stuff I am loving right now,
Alabama stitch book.... I cannot leaf through this beautiful book enough. The projects are all hand sewn and made from recycled tshirts; I am just in love with this one ladies.
Homemade Life...This is such a wonderful book about food and life and love and all that kind of deliciousness. I brought it home yesterday from the library and have read half of it (which for me is alot). The recipes look yummy and the stories that Molly Wizenberg tells are even sweeter. I must admit I have not followed her blog Orangette, but I will now.

Sharon Jones she is bringin' it ( um yeah I watched "Bring it On, All or Nothing"at the gym this week, sorry ) I bought the album 100 days 100 nights, thinking" wow, I have never heard of this 60's soul sista ",DUH, That is because the album came out in 2007. She is one hot, howlin' mama and her 8 piece band really back her up. The music is incredibly authentic and so is the writing , and I can not hear it enough. In particular this lil' sex you up song.

~We have been just maintaining around here. Daddy has been working nonstop. We had no weekend and he has been gone most nights. I am grateful he has work , but really we just miss him. Daddy is my best friend and provides me with my production breaks. He is also the balance that keeps my multitasking tendencies from spinning into a crazy mess. Well obviously by the looks of this photo the mess has fallen all over my bed room.

~One productive thing I have done in the past week is get contacts. I consider myself a "person who wears glasses". I have had glasses since the the third grade . But with my crazy headaches and the Texas sun it is nice sometimes to get the weight off. I had let my contact prescription expire last summer. So I visited my friendly optometrist and they set me free.

Our thanksgiving was probably similar to most folks; yummy food and family fun....I am thankful for my wonderful family (and Cinda's pies)


~our Cousin was teethin' on a leg bone... My mother in law did all of the cooking except I supplied the green bean casserole (your very standard recipe) And a macaroni and cheese casserole(for burger"noonles"). She is very humble but she is really a master in the kitchen;(her pies are amazing)
and quite the craft artist as well which you may spot in beautiful table setting.
We all had a nice visit and burger was really lovin' his time with his Donda bunny.
He also had a good time with his Tia and cousin(aren't they just sugery sweet)
We went home with a ton of leftovers and I think burger and I were asleep but 7:30

(then Friday morning we had pumpkin pie for breakfast, with whipped cream of course)

Boots the play World premiere

My Brother In-law is a playwright and he, my sister,and their 3 children moved to NYC about 3-4 years ago in pursuit of his dream! I am proud to say he has arrived( after much, much hard toiling)!!!!

I posted some new cards on etsy yesterday that I must say are a little more masculine than my usual look( can greeting cards be masculine?). Any who I heart them, and they arrived almost too late for father's day.

I used a Tea stained( tea staining is a very manly activity,like holding up a train ) rives bfk printmaking paper to house my collaged images.

Each image is composed from vintage sewn fabric and recycled papers. Card interior is recycled brown paper bag.

such a happy mothers day......

I had my most wondrous mamas day yet( this is my 2ND one), I am one lucky mama! I slept in till nearly 9am and then was treated to dim sum at our fave dim sum local T& S seafood located way up on north Lamar. Then papa helped me clean the sewing/everything room and put up these absolutely fabulous shelves.

He was also very thoughtful( he is really quite a thoughtful man) and remembered that I really wanted Amanda Blake Soule's(from soule mama blog) new book The Creative Family (how to encourage imagination and nurture family connections).


I also got purty, purty flowers on Friday ( i love it 'cause then I can enjoy them all weekend!).







All and all a beautiful day that I will love to look back on.. thanks dada and burger

I heart romance

me and daddy made a getaway for our 3 year anniversary.



It was truly wonderful and I have beautiful hill country wildflower photos to prove it.


Thank you donda cinda and paps for making it all possible, we love you dearly. Here are a few more of my favorite photos for our little trip. We were in Wimberly, Texas at a B & B called Southwind . It was very secluded and simply perfect for our excursion. The cabin (we had our own)was nestled in the hill country woods and looked like it was made from the cedar they cleared for the cabin lot.
