New Goodies at this weekends market

I have quite a few new things at the market this weekend that I am excited about. First this wrap skirt in a sea foam green linen

It has an applique made from this gorgeous fabric called "sketch Book" by Anna maria Horner.
I finally used a true rolled hem on this wrap and I really am liking the way it turned out.
I also really like the serger thread I put on the second half of the week(pictured in the rolled hem). Daddy called it maze; I thought that was a good description I really like where the color of my serger thread takes me sometimes . For example this bag
that also has a swatch appliqued from Ms.Horner's collection. I think this thread color has a good late summer(hahahahaha late summer in Texas is more like Oct1rst)early fall feel.and no matter how hot it is I start moving towards fall colors in late July and august. Hey what can I say I'm a color whore. I love em' and leave em' The bag has an interior pocket as well as an exterior pocket This fabric I used for the bag- was sort of recycled from a defunct maternity dress I made that was too big in the belly(?) and too small in the boobies I wore it once or twice when I was about 5 months pregnant( not too useful or comfortable) . I bought the fabric at Silk Road
moons ago...such a beautiful store ...so far north.

Anyway I also made these cute shorts(well I made them last week but just photographed them this week) They are too cute with little bugs hiding in a field of camo.
I also made these cutey pie barrettes that I am so in love with making!!!

I am working up a tutorial on these babies cause sista, they are super duper EZ and fun to make! But that is next weeks fun times....hopefully, OK give me a couple of weeks.I still have a pantie tutorial That I a have promised the gals at cut out and keep
Oh yeah I cut my( and burgers and Dada's) hair this week I heart scissors
Burgers was a joint effort between mama and dada(this is mine pre-cut...dadas is cut though , he likes it short!

Blue Mama grand opening on etsy!

My fellow crafty mama pal from the blog mama sings the blues is launching her very own etsy line that includes jewelry and handbags made from recycled materials and her fabulous beauty products that include several all natural lip balms. These lip balms are "creamy and delicious shea butter & beeswax-based... sweetened with agave nectar" My favorite is the one called Lovely ...."This is a creamy and delicious shea butter & beeswax-based lip balm sweetened with agave nectar, fragranced with neroli (orange blossom)essential oil and tinted a soft, sheer nude."
I am also enjoy wearing my super sassy button earrings that have recycled vintage fabric decoupaged on one side. I just love them ! She has lots of earrings that range in price from $12 to $18!!! What a steal? They are all one of a kind... and she will even do custom orders out of that little swatch of fabric that you just love and can't let go of.

In addition to all of these awesome things blue mama also makes super cute handbags that she knits from plastic shopping bags and adds vintage handles! I just love this one in black I covet it and envy the one who will tote it( could be me after a good weekend at the market!)!!
Check her out!! lots of beautiful and fun stuff!!!!! She is adding new pieces all the time and doing a lip balm give away on her blog!

Boots the play World premiere

My Brother In-law is a playwright and he, my sister, and their 3 children moved to NYC about 3-4 years ago in pursuit of his dream! I am proud to say he has arrived( after much, much hard toiling)!!!!
The play priemeres on August 8th
From their website

Boots is the epic journey of Tiny, a man torn within a struggle between family and nation, wife and war. Boots is music, movement, masks. Boots is love, hate, home, loss.

Through violence Tiny is born, through vengeance saved, through compassion raised, through love destroyed, and through remorse redeemed. Caught in the tribal warfare of generations, there are two paths for Tiny to tread - one of the nation, and one of the heart.

Boots is a story of our civilization and those of our parents and children. It is a story as old as time and without time. And it is a story that must be seen in our time of war and strife, our time of passion and life.

GOOD LUCK john
we are very proud of you in Austin Texas

Apron give away...I told you it woud happen

Finally I am doing my apron give away!!!
I have been promising one for some time now, and I am making good on that.
This cute little number Is a half/skirt style apron. The skirt material is a very pretty butterfly and floral print with a sort of eastern feel. It is very figure flattering with the wide waistband. The pocket is fully lined and has my Lil chick applique on it . This apron is user friendly 100% cotton 100% washable ...You will probably "forget" you have it on and sport it at the market Or wherever you slip out to. Seriously I was really liking the look over my jeans !!
Haven't you heard aprons are back in a big way.

It has this string straps that you can tie in front... or in back ( this also makes it fit most sizes). If you tie in back you can fold the wide waist in half and get a subtler look that is more functional.

Anyway I really love it and I hope ya'll do too(sorry boys you will have to try later for a more masculine look)
I have quite a few aprons made and in the works ...I will try and post those on Sunday (what is left after the market on Saturday)I did not want to be confusing about what the give away apron is.
So just leave a comment on this post ...(please make sure I can get your email from your comment profile or leave it in the comment itself) Dada will randomly draw a winner from his hat on Monday july 21 2008!

playing Ketchup

So we had a great time in Houston...
burger can't stop asking for layla and jee....(but jee has to come to Austin soon so burger does not forget again! Thanks jolene for you gracious hospitality we lalalaloveyou.)

The drive was not as much fun as these photos portray . Homemade drawing board from lonestar box quite nifty!

It was nearly 4 hours each way ; yes I said four hours and we had some car sickness on the way home. Not really fun for either of us. No more belle and burger solo trips in the car for at least a year..but live and learn.

We came home in time for the fourth and dada surprised us by taking the day off! YAY!!! Fun times at the sprinkler park at lady bird lake(town lake). Unfortunately I have been wraslin' migraines all week (all year it seems)and have been trying to get caught up on the belle and burger restock and order list. I did manage to get the finished giveaway apron and it is a cutey . I will post it tomorrow .

(yes, jolene I added this photo with my Braves hat to create baseball fan balance.... )

Market days... A look back at a hot June!

It was the hottest June I have seen In my 7 years in central Texas(have I been her 7 years?!!!)I am actually amazed that I have not completely melted away at my weekend gig at the farmers market and that I was able to brave every Saturday in June! So .... I am taking July 5th off and actually the first part of the week off and headin' down to Houston for a much belated (like 2 years)trip to spend time with my bff and burger's God mama. I will be taking 'Holiday'(hey- I watched "flushed away" like 15 times in a week) for the next week so the Belle and Burger shop (etsy and at the Market) We will be back up July 7Th.

********Some of June in review*************

~I got this beautiful new sign (thanks baps!!) a product of Sunsigns. They did a fantastic job

~I had some fun people stop by the market this month. I met this sweet gal from the bay area that mentioned me in her Weird Vegetables blog where their motto is..." Eat vegetables. weird ones. and other things we think you should do"
My sweet friends and en laws are always out showing their support

~Nanny got us this awesome new floor mat at the beginning of the month from my favorite outdoor store The Natural Gardener
It is 97% recycled plastic and as easy on the eyes as it is to hose down at the end of a dirty day at the pool or beach(if we ever went to the beach)

~The aprons have been getting lots of attention so as promised I will have an apron give away going up this weekend!
Anyway this is a bit scatterbrained I am a little sleepy and excited about my little holiday...Have a happy and safe 4Th of July , see you at the market; we will be back there July 12Th!
